Going Home Celebration of Dr. Rev. Willie Stovall

This is my second part of the testimony of Dr. Jesus the life of  Dr. Rev. Willie Stovall.

Heartache! They had to bury 4 of their adult children. I know one succumbed to cancer after they gave him that chemo. One died violently. And I believe they buried 3 young grandchildren. The sorrow that hit their lives must have and still unbelievable horrendous.

A parent is not supposed to bury their child. A child suppose to bury a parent. But many reading this have buried their child. Just like Job in the bible. God allowed the devil to put him through that. And he still had faith in God after all he through. I love reading that story.

About 2 months ago. I went to sèe Miss Irene Stovall and Rev. Stovall at their house. Brought my granddaughter. We stayed for hours. We all had a good time laughing and talking. We got to talking about scriptures. We aĺl sat there and talked scriptures. My son left the room. But we had a good time and I talked about Eve. In thinking back, Rev. Stovall never corrected me in my beliefs about Eve. That is the last time I saw Willie Stovall alive.

But My son saw him about 3 weeks ago. And he called me and said; Rev Pop is not doing well. He has prostrate cancer. My heart dropped. Because I knew it was a death sentence.

I prepared my mind and heart for his death and for my son to guide him through all of this. And I prayed that Jesus give my son and his brothers and sisters the strength to get through what awaits them. I prayed extra hard for his wife Irene. The had known each other for 70 years! They married and had 15 children. They were inseparable. My mind was every where.

Well Rev. Stovall went into the hospital to have the glass removed from his brain a few months ago I would assume. Dr. Jesus healed him of that too. But, the doctors broke the news to his family about the prostrate cancer.

He stayed in the hospital I would assume for a few more days. They arranged to have him brought home. Where his wife and kids would take care of him. Miss Irene I knew was devastated by the news and so were we.

I could not be happy. I kept close contact with my son to make sure he was OK. He was!

When news of his death came. I did not dare tell my son. I did not know how he would react. He was driving that time and so I called his sister in Memphis and asked her was it true that Rev Pop had passed? She said yes! It happened that morning. She broke the news to my son about his death. I just could not bring myself to do it.  I checked on him an hour later. He had to promise me, he would not do anything stupid. And explained that Rev Stovall was in better place. He understood. I told him he had to be strong for the rest of the family. He said he would be good.

I called Miss Irene and let her know I would be there for anything she needed. But, so many visitors were in the house, until she could not hear me.

I saw the obit in the paper. And I was sad to read it. But had time to prepare for the funeral. Many people were coming to say goodby to Rev. Stovall because he was known far and wide.

The Mayor came. The Governor had a proclamation written for him condolences poured in from all over. Took that lady about an hour to read them. But we all sat there and listened  with patience.

Songs were sung that lifted our spirits. They did some very good singing. Still gotta find that young man that was playing the guitar bass. All of his sons sang beautiful songs in honor of their father.

His son preached. The other 2 sons greeted the hundreds of people that came to pay their final respects. You did a wonderful job! And thank you! You then turned around and sang back up on some gospel songs. But that preacher that was his son. You stirred that whole crowd in that large auditorium.

That preacher said something that showed me that Dr. Jesus was still around. While his father was at home. Those boys was praying the blood of Jesus to heal their father. Every time they went to pray. Rev Pop shook his head no. They started praying again in the name of Jesus. Rev Stovall shook his head no again. They asked why? The blood and the name of Jesus can heal you of everything daddy. He said: “I wanna Go Home”

He wanted to go And be with Dr. Jesus! He Savior and trusted friend. His protector. The one he preached about from pulpits every Sunday.

On March 29th, 2026 King Jesus welcomed him home.

I love Jesus. And I only read the King James Scriptures.
