HOW MUCH IS HE WORTH
There was a very poor man in town.
He did not even own a bed;
He had no place to lay his head.
But one day he would be given a golden crown.
He went about doing good and healing the sick.
He fed the hungry with bread and fish.
He gave dying people their greatest wish.
He even delivered a raging lunatic.
This humble man taught people the truth of God’s word.
It was so different from anything they had ever heard.
This caused hatred in their leaders and they wanted him destroyed.
Their search gave them one of his own followers and him they employed
To bring about the destruction of this one who did only good
And in whom they could find no falsehood.
The traitor said, I will betray him to you, but what is he worth?
The deal was set for thirty pieces of silver.
Thirty pieces of silver to remove this one from the earth.
This one who was the only life-giver.
So the money was paid and they nailed the blessed one to a cross.
The world would never know the glory they had lost.
They laughed him to scorn and said now we will no more morn.
We have put an end to the division he has sworn.
But only three days later this glorious man again walked among
His enemies and that wild throng.
The enemies had no idea the head they had pierced with thorns
Was now to be crowned with God’s horns.
Now they must all bow and worship the man they had hated
Or to eternal death they would be fated.
The man they valued at only thirty pieces of silver was now at God’s right hand.
And before Jesus ever man will someday stand
And give account of all of their misdeeds.
SO, HOW MUCH IS HE WORTH TO YOU?
