FINDING THE ONE LOST SHEEP
Mark 5: 5 And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. ~~~ [This shows going into a different dimension; the sea is humanity. So it shows our coming into humanity and things that happen to us here. ]
2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,
3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: ~~~ [the tombs are our human bodies. Even though he was bound with chains = temptations… he broke them each time… refusing to stay in that sin.]
4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.
5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. ~~~~ [cutting himself with stones? = trying to go by law; works of the flesh; did not work]
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, ~~~ [afar off…. He began getting sight of some truth and ran toward this; he did not run from it but toward it. He wanted Jesus.]
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. ~~ [Here he is asking Jesus for help; he is seeking to not end up in more torment.]
8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts. ~~~ [This is the people, preachers, who hate truth and want Jesus gone; they will not tolerate a person who finds real deliverance; truth. ]
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
The above verses are so profound! In these verses is the deep truth of how a person is bound here by sins and evil spirits; fleshly desires; anything that holds us back from serving God with Joy. Jesus departed from the place where he was and went to another coast for one purpose. He was going after that one lost sheep that had gone astray and lost his way back home.
The man was dwelling in the TOMBS. This shows that our human body is a prison or grave. The spirit or being that inhabits our human body did not originate when that baby was born. Oh, I know, this is not common knowledge because those who were paid to feed the sheep were really wolves coming in to devour the sheep.
Our spiritual person, or the inner man, did not originate when a baby was born here. That spiritual being was sent here from another world. Sometimes it is punishment for rebellion to God and at other times it is one being sent here to help lead the blind back to sight; back home to God.
Even though it is not well known, this man in the tombs is a perfect type of the life of a Christian, attempting to get back home to God. Evil spirits or demons had gotten into this man. The sins that bound him were those chains. Each time they chained him up he would break those chains and repent and get back to God. But then more temptation hit him and he fell again. Chained up once more. Over and over this person resumed his walk with God only to fall one more time under the temptation. He had become totally insane and was naked = lost his glory with God.
But Jesus Knew about this man and went out of his way to go find this man and break that evil chain and get rid of those evil spirits. He gave this man the Holy Ghost and delivered him completely from falling into temptation.
But what happened to those evil spirits? They asked to be allowed to go into the SWINE. So what is SWINE? The word tells us. The swine can be cleaned up but will jump right back into the mudholes that he loves. The swine has no real desire to serve God or live a clean holy life. So all those demons went into the swine and the swine went over a cliff and fell into the water below and drowned.
Those who were feeding the SWINE = the paid preachers… fled. They had nothing that could help the swine.
The man was then delivered, in his right mind [wanting to serve God], clothed = had the Holy ghost, and wanted to stay with Jesus.
He asked Jesus to let him go with him. But Jesus told the man, no, you must stay here and show the people of your town the great things that God has done for you.
So it is that some of us would like to go be with Jesus now, but He says you must stay here a bit longer and try to show others the great things that God has done for you and shown you.
